NPP Did Not Hire JB Killer- John Boadu
The General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has dared an accused person standing trial in the murder of Joseph Boakye Danquah Adu, to mention the names of those he claimed had hired him to kill the legislator.
According to him, the party would not shield anyone mentioned as being the ‘contractor’ in the case.
He made this statement on an Accra-based radio station yesterday in response to the accusations made by Daniel Asiedu, nicknamed “Sexy Dondon”.
The accused person is reported to have told an Accra District Court, presided over by her ladyship Arit Nsemoh that he was hired by some persons in the NPP to kill the former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North Constituency.
He claimed he was instructed by his contractors at the time to rather accuse some NDC members of being responsible, adding that he was promised that he would be freed whenever the NPP returned to power.
But responding to the accusations, Boadu said “the party can never hire persons to kill their own member. We will not gain anything from doing that. But if there is an individual in the party who contracted him, he should go ahead and mention the name.”
He said he believed the accused person was mentally unstable and should, as a result, be asked to undergo mental examination.
According to him, Asiedu’s previous statements he made in court showed he was mentally unstable.
Asiedu had earlier said he went to the MP’s house to steal but ended up killing him in self-defense.
He later withdrew his claims and stated that he went there with the intention of killing the legislator, and actually accused the NDC of hiring him for the ‘job’.
Meanwhile, the Deputy General Secretary and lawyer to the party, Nana Obiri Boahen, has called on the head of investigations at the Police Headquarters to speed up investigations on the case.
According to him, the police has since not served the Attorney General with the docket.
