NPP Face Court Over Polls

Despite persistent calls and pleas from John Boadu, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), that intra-party misunderstandings should be settled through laid down party channels, and out of court, some aggrieved members have sued the party over what they described as “bias polling station elections.”

The NPP members have alleged that the recent polling station polls of the party in the Ashanti region was marred by instances of sabotage and total discrimination.

According to them, several party members in good standing were prevented from contesting for polling station positions in the various constituencies.

They have therefore decided to drag the party to court so that the results of most of the polling station elections in some constituencies would be annulled.

NPP First Vice National Chairman, Frederick Fredua Anto, who confirmed the report, said “I have heard that some party members have gone to court.

“I gathered that these party people are not satisfied about how the polling station polls were organized in their constituencies, hence going to court.

“I have not received court summons yet but I have sighted a document which showed that some of the party members are heading to court over the polls”.

Mr. Anto, who was appointed by the party to supervise the Ashanti Regional NPP Polling Station polls, stated that the development is very unfortunate.

He did not mention the exact constituencies that have gone to court over the matter, but he was quick to call for calm in the party, notably in the Ashanti region.

Mr. Anto, who was speaking on Nhyira FM, also disclosed that the party had received countless petitions from some aggrieved constituencies.

The NPP senior member gave an assurance that the party leadership would investigate all the complaints and resolve them amicably to help boost peace in the party.
