NPP Guru ‘Slaps’ Odike For Attacking K’si Mayor
Akwasi Addae, aka ‘Odike’, leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), has been heavily chastised for passing false and derogatory comments about the Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi.
Odike, who is noted for his loose talks, unsurprisingly, described the Kumasi Mayor as “weak and not cut for the job. But the claim, which went viral on several social media portals, attracted barrages of responses from city dwellers.
For instance, Mr. Frederick Addae, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Treasurer for Manhyia North Constituency, did not only insist that Odike’s comments are false, but also described the UPP leader as a “stomach politician” who is only after his selfish interest. He said “Odike is noted for attacking public officials who refuse to give him juicy contracts”.
According to Addae, credible information available to him indicated that Odike recently approached the Kumasi mayor and begged for a contract which he didn’t qualify to do.
“The mayor politely refused to grant that contract to him and he (Odike) felt offended and so he has started a diabolic mission to tarnish the image of Hon. Osei Assibey, which is very bad”, he said.
According to him, the Mayor had performed excellently ever since he assumed office a few months ago and expressed surprise at Odike’s harsh comments.
To him, the sanitation situation in Kumasi had improved significantly while street lights and overall security had improved in the city.
The NPP guru, who commands enormous respect in the party in the Ashanti region, warned Odike not to replicate his weird and selfish behaviour when he was with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the NPP.
“This is what he was noted for when he was ex-President Mahama’s friend. Odike usually attacked NDC people in respectable public positions whenever his desire to land a contract failed”, he alleged.
According to him, Odike is an opportunist, who joined the NPP at the last minute of the 2016 polls with the sole intention of securing juicy contracts from the NPP administration to enrich himself.
“As I speak now, the Kumasi mayor has almost completed the refurbishment of the Race Course project where the hawkers would be relocated to this coming Monday to decongest the streets in the city”.
Mr. Addae said Hon. Osei Assibey is one of the most hard-working and proactive mayors that Kumasi has ever seen. He therefore warned Odike not to start any diabolic mission to distract the hard-working mayor from leading Kumasi into affluence.
“If he repeats his childish acts again, we shall deal with him, appropriately”, he warned.
