NPP Honours Baffour Akoto
THE ASHANTI Regional New Patriotic Party (NPP) has named its new regional office complex after a former state linguist at the Manhyia Palace.
Baffour Akoto of blessed memory, a linguist of the late Asantehene, Otumfuo Nana Agyeman Prempeh II, is the lucky person, as the party recently decided to posthumously honour him for his role in the formation of the party’s tradition.
Making the announcement at the just-ended national delegates’ congress in Kumasi, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Wontumi’, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, recounted the late linguist’s invaluable contributions, which led to the formation of the United Party (UP), from which the NPP traces its roots.
He stressed that it is important for the party to honour its heroes so that the future generation of its membership would be motivated.
Declares War On NDC
Wontumi also declared ‘war’ on the three parliamentary seats in the region presently being occupied by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He said he would make sure the Asawase, Ejura Sekyeredumase and Sekyere Afram Plains seats are annexed by the NPP in the 2020 polls.
The conference was graced by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia.
