The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), will this morning [Thursday], open nominations for persons who wish to contest various national positions in the party.
The nomination will be open for seven days ahead of the national delegates congress in Koforidua from 15th to 17th of June.
The NPP’s constitution states that a prospective aspirant must be an active and known member in good standing for at least the last five years.
Good standing is demonstrated by active participation in the party’s activities and abiding by the constitution and rules and regulations of the party.
Aspirants must also be registered voters and shall prove so with a Biometric ID card issued by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.
Persons nominated for the National officer’s position must be nominated by one member of the National Council of Elders, and seconded by 10 registered members of the party who are known and active, and reside in the 10 regions across the country, all of whom shall be in good standing.
The nomination forms cost non-refundable application fees with the National Chairperson aspirant paying GHc10,000, GHc8,000 for the Vice Chairperson, GHc 6,000 for the General Secretary position, and GHc 5,000 for all other positions apart from the special organs.
The aspirants for the special organs i.e. Youth, Women and Nasara coordinators would have to pay GHc3,000.
