NPP retains 12 Chairmen …Jeff Konadu is new kid on the block

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has retained 12 of its Regional Chairmen to lead the party for another 4 years during Regional Executive elections conducted across 15 Regions between Friday May 27 and Sunday May 29.

Just three Regions elected new names as Regional Chairmen while the Central Region is the only Region left to vote.

The three only Regions which saw new names elected as Chairmen are the Eastern Region where Jeff Konadu Addo was elected, the Bono East Region where Ibrahim Baba Bukari was voted in and the Western North Region where Benjanim Armah was voted in.

All the other 12 Regions where elections were held retained their incumbent chairmen including Ahafo Region being retained by Kwabena Owusu Sekyere, Northern Region being retained by Mohamed Adam Batima Samba, North East Region being retained by Fusheni Nurudeen, Savana Region being retained by Sulema Iddrisu and Upper East Region being retained by Anthony Namoo.

The remaining are the Ashanti Region that retained Bernard Antwi Bosiako aka Wontumi, Greater Accra Region which retained Divine Otoo Agorhorm, Oti Region which retained Evans Yaw Dapaah, Volta Region which retained Makafui Kofi Woanya, Upper East Region which retained Sanbaya B. Kangbere, Western Region which retained Francis Ndede Siah and the Bono Region which retained Kwame Baffoe, widely known in political circles as Abronye DC.

ASHANTI NPP STARTS CAMPAIGN 

 BERNARD ANTWI Boasiako, the retained Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, in his victory speech,  declared the commencement of campaign for election 2024.

 He noted: “What has happened here today shows that the NPP’s campaign of ‘Breaking The 8’ has started from the Baba Yara Stadium. They cannot stop us. NDC, you cannot stop us. You can spread a scandalous name about the NPP. You can lie. You can provocate. You can bring fake news. But wining the 2024 elections, it is a movement, it is a movement, it is a movement, it is a movement, it is a movement stronger than apartheid”.

Wontumi also entreated the NPP members to remain united so as to help the party to break the eight in 2024. He said the election is an internal affair so nobody is a winner or a loser.

According to him, the ruling political party should do everything possible to hang onto power so that they would continue with their good works, noting that NPP would surely win power.

Wontumi  amassed 456 votes to win his seat again as against 306 by Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Robert Asare Bediako, 20, Kwabena Owusu-Aduomi, 9 and Kofi Adum Barwuah, 3 votes.

Patrick Acheampong managed a total of 358 votes to unseat Kwabena Nsenkyire, the incumbent First Vice Chairman, who got 342, Kennedy Marfo, 76 votes and Yaw Amoateng, 26 votes.

The Second Vice Chairmanship position was won by Victoria Nyarko Owusu-Achiaw, 422, Patrick Adu-Gyamfi, 153, Oscar Riches, 140 and Abagna Samuel Nsosakia, 41 votes.

The Secretary position was also won by Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah, 411 votes. He defeated his only contender, in the elections l, Nelson Owusu Ansah, who managed 390 votes.

Allen Gyimah won 536 votes to win the Assistant Secretary position and he was followed by Paul Kwabena Gyandoh, 190, Kwabena Bediako-Frimpong, 38 and Shadrack Agyapong, 38 in that order.

Hajia Zeinabu Sallow, the incumbent Treasurer, retained her position with 388 votes, followed by Isaac Osei Kwarteng, 221, Frederick Addae, 151 and Foster Kwadwo Asare, 41 votes.

The Youth Organizer position was secured by Sarfo Raphael Patrick, 294 votes, followed by Martin Ameyaw, 245, Duah-Boateng Henry Kwaku, 147 and Isaac Bonsu, 32 votes.

Nana Ama Ampomah retained her seat as women organizer with 419 votes, followed by Beatrice Owusu, 344 and Adwoa Konadu, 39.

Francis Adomako, Organizer and Saalim Mansuru Bamba, NASARA Coordinator, who had not contest, retained their seats unopposed.
