NPP Still in Campaign Mood
A former MCE for Ejisu/Juaben in the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, Afrifa Yamoah Ponkoh, has opined that sixteen long months after winning political power, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government is yet to live beyond the 2016 electioneering campaign period.
According to him, President Akufo-Addo and his Vice have been moving around the country lately making juicy promises to the people as if the country is about to go for a general election.
He has therefore admonished Nana Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia to concentrate on developing the country and stop making big promises to the people, saying such behaviours won’t help anybody.
“From all indications, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, are still living in the campaign period as if Ghana is about to go to the polls to elect a new president.
“The president and the vice have abandoned the management of the country, which is their core duty, and they are rather moving about, akin to what pertains during electioneering campaign period, making promises”.
Yamoah Ponkoh, who was speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, claimed Nana Addo rode to power by peddling lies and empty promises ahead of the 2016 presidential and parliamentary polls.
He is of the view that government’s Nation Builders Corps programme (NABCO), aimed at helping reduce graduate unemployment in the country, is not an effective means to halt unemployment in the country.
