Despite the earlier caution issued by President Nana Akufo-Addo to party supporters ahead of the winner announcement of the 2020 presidential election to be vigilant in their jubilation, one person is said to be dead during the victory celebration.
The sad incident is said to have happened in Saboba in the Northern Region.
The deceased, Wassah Mohammed, popularly called Okala, was reportedly engaged in an elaborate celebration on his motorbike which resulted in an accident and his death.
He was reportedly standing on his moving motorbike with no control of the handlebars leading to his fatal accident.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Saboba hospital.
Akufo-Addo won 51.29% of the 13 million votes recorded.
He had 6,730,413 of the votes while his main contender, John Dramani Mahama garnered 6,214,889 votes representing 47.36%.
President Akufo-Addo’s victory was announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa on Wednesday, December 9, 2020.
