Obiri Boahen Begs NPP
…Forgive Me, I Have Served NPP All My Life
Nana Obiri Boahen, Deputy General of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially apologized to the party over the contents of a recently leaked tape recording which captured his voice making rather bizarre and embarrassing comments.
The private legal practitioner, in an official statement issued under his signature stated that he regrets for the indiscretion he might have exercised, indicating that to err is human.
Obiri Boahen in the statement, rendered his unqualified apology to the President Nana Akufo-Addo, the Vice Prescient Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, Chief of Staff Frema Osei Opare and the entire NPP as a political party.
“I have learnt much lessons from this unfortunate incident, from this heavily edited, secretly recorded, intentionally mutilated and doctored audio recording or cassette.”
He added: “I vow not to find myself under such circumstances again. My loyalty and commitment to the NPP shall ever continue to be resolute and firm. To err is human, and to forgive is divine.”
Conforming the authenticity of the apology statement, the Enso Nyame Ye Chambers lawyer told THE PUBLISHER yesterday, that NPP is the party he has fought for since his infancy and that his commitment to the party is unalloyed and beyond description.
The NPP should not place much premium on this doctored tape, which was secretly recorded, highly doctored, with mimicked voices and highly mutilated.
“I also apologize to the former President for the wrong information. I realize that the man gave a wrong information and I apologize to them for whatever I might have said on air…”, Nana Obiri Boahen noted
The NPP deputy Chief Scribe was heard in a leaked telephone conversation that has gone viral claiming that the Presidency donated about GH¢50 billion towards the party’s 2017 National Annual Delegates Conference held in Cape Coast in the Central Region.
In the audio, Obiri Boahen was again heard alleging that despite being faithful to the NPP even when they were in opposition, he is not benefiting like others are doing.
“When we were going to Cape Coast the other time, I was given GH¢3,000 as a member of the Resolution Committee and an additional GH¢2,000 for fuel. Meanwhile, the Flagstaff House gave the party an amount of GH¢50 billion,” Boahen alleged in the audio.
Obiri Boahen’s apology comes at the time the party has tasked its Steering Committee to investigate his comments.
John Boadu, the party’s Acting General Secretary in a statement noted that the allegation is “palpable falsehood” and “indeed, Nana Obiri Boahen himself has subsequently admitted to the falsity of his baseless allegation.”
“Nonetheless, the party takes serious view of his unfortunate comments and has accordingly tasked the Steering Committee to immediately look into the matter and make appropriate recommendations,” it said.
The NPP in the statement said it is awaiting the recommendation of the Steering Committee to make a determination on the matter.
