THE FOUNDER and Leader of the United Progressive Party (UPP), AkwasiAddai, has taken a swipe at the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, for refusing to release cash into the economy, and thereby inflicting hardship on the citizenry.
“There is extreme hardship in the country nowadays, and so everybody, including even NPP members, is in tears now.
“And I will blame the finance minister solely for this unfortunate development as he is refusing to release cash into the system.
“Money is now very hard to come by, and this situation is rapidly affecting every section of the state”, AkwasiAddai pointed out.
In a chat with NhyiraFM, the UPP leader, popularly called ‘Odike’, alleged that road contractors in Kumasi have left their sites for non-payment for works done.
“Government is not paying the contractors so they (contractors), out of frustration, have decided to abandon their projects.
According to him, nowadays the movement of people and goods is badly affected due to the bad nature of roads in the country.
Odike, who campaigned for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2016 polls, charged the finance minister to sit up, and do the needful, if he intends to keep the government in power.
“We struggled before the NPP won power and the finance minister should not sit on the cash for the party to return to opposition”, he concluded.
