Odike Blasts NPP, NDC …Over Corruption Fight
The leader and founder of United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai aka ‘Odike, has said Ghana still has a long way to go in the fight against corruption because the two largest political parties in the country, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC), are not determined to fight the canker as expected.
According to him, the two parties only give lip service, when it comes to fighting it, saying “they cannot properly fight corruption”.
The UPP leader recounted that President Nana Akuffo-Addo, prior to the 2016 elections, campaigned vigorously and pledged to uproot corruption, but unfortunately, nearly three years into his administration, almost all the corruption-related issues that infested the ex-President Mahama-led NDC administration still exist in the country.
According to him, the Nana Akufo-Addo government had done virtually nothing to put the ‘fear of God’ in the people in order to scare them from being corrupt.
Odike, who was speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, said former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s NPP government did a yeoman’s job to fight corruption.
“Mr. Mahama’s government was full of corruption and that is one of the reasons Ghanaians voted them out of power to enable the NPP to take over.
“And we all had hope in Nana Akufo-Addo, who is a top lawyer, to fight the canker better, but so far he has failed to deliver in that area”.
The UPP leader therefore entreated the electorate to massively vote for him and the UPP since he had the magic wand to make corruption a thing of the past in the country.
