The Offinso Traditional Area, in the Ashanti region, is set to benefit from three factories under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s famous One District, One Factory programme.
The yet-to-be-established factories are likely to include tomatoes factory, starch factory and one another as it is intended to help create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth.
The Deputy Local Government Minister, Mr. Collins Ntim, who made the pleasant announcement at a function, stated that the government is determined to work to create jobs for the people.
The occasion was the grand launching of this year’s Mmoaninko Festival― an annual traditional festival, which is celebrated by the people of Offinso to remember their past and further plan for the future.
Significantly, this year’s festival will be marked with pomp and pageantry as it has coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Paramount Chief of the Offinso Traditional Area, Nana Wiafe Akenten.
Mr. Ntim, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso North, lauded the Offinsomanhene for being a development-oriented leader, urging other chiefs in the country to learn from him.
Nana Wiafe Akenten announced that this year’s Mmoaninko festival is slated for November 24, urging his subjects to rally behind him so he can continue to lead the Offinso Traditional Area into affluence.
He stated that the government cannot develop the country on its own, stressing the need for the citizenry to play roles to help accelerate national development, leading to job and wealth creation for the people.
