Renowned highlife artist Ofori Amponsah has stated that he has been blessed by God with the gift of prophecy, allowing him to foretell the future.
“I don’t want to speak about it today, but like a gift. I can sit down and say in the year 2020, this would happen. Of course,” he said when asked if he could prophesy.
The “Otoolege” hitmaker explained that he has used his music career as a platform to express his God-given gift of prophecy, which he believes predates his musical talent.
“It’s a gift that I was practicing in church before I became Ofori Amponsah. For me, music became my platform. For instance, while I was in the studio, I received a message that something would happen in 2020, so I included it in my song because I don’t have a church,” he said. “That’s actually my gift, even more than the music itself,” he added.
In an interview with Berla Mundi on the Day Show, the artist-turned-pastor clarified that he didn’t turn to God solely to give his life to Christ. He shared that he used to sing, preach, and lead worship in church long before he became the star he is today.
“Ofori Amponsah was already in church, singing in church before I became Ofori Amponsah. So, it’s not like I tried to give my life to Christ. I was already doing that,” he stated.
He explained that he took a break from music because he felt he was going “wayward” and needed time to refocus.
“At that time, I had my own challenges. I had been doing this for a long time, and I needed a break.”
“I felt like I needed to find myself again, and I think the break was a very good thing for me because I was actually going a bit wayward until I took a break and came back.
“Right now, I am more successful than before, a hundred times more successful,” he noted on Sunday, 20 October.
In 2013, Amponsah decided to leave secular music and released a gospel album titled The Gospel According to Ofori in 2014. As part of this decision, he also became a pastor and founded the Family of Faith and Love Ministries to share the word of God.
