Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amotia Ofori Panin, has lauded the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his vital role in the promotion of golf in this countyr.
According to him, Asantehene’s intervention, over the years, is among the key reasons golf had gained popularity among the populace in recent times.
The Paramount Chief for Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area, who is also a golfer made this known when speaking during a dinner at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to close the 2nd Head of State Invitational Golf Tournament on Saturday.
Interestingly, golfers from the Royal Golf Club, the host club, dominated both the men and ladies’ category of the one-day competition.
Ghana Golf Association is the brain behind the competition and it was aimed at promoting golf among Ghanaians to make the sport popular.
Deserving golfers were given mouthwatering prizes, which were presented by Otumfuo, Okyenhene and President Nana Akufo-Addo during the dinner.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo and Okyenhene lived up to expectation by producing inspiring golf skills as they played a short tournament to start the competition.
The two top dignitaries were joined by Sam Jonah, a business magnate and Manso Nkwantamanhene, nana Bi Kusi Appiah.
The crowd that watched the exhibition game, intermittently clapped especially for Otumfuo and Okyenhene for displaying breathtaking golf skills.
