Legendary Ghanaian music producer Hammer of the Last Two has slammed Charterhouse for Patapaa’s ‘One Corner’ being shunned for the Most Popular Song of the Year award at the 2018 VGMAs.
According to Hammer, Patapaa’s song was clearly the most popular last year and he should have been given the award, period.
The music producer posted on Facebook that Charterhouse should look at taking away voting from the most popular song of the year category and instead use data to truly determine which song has been most popular.
Patapaa was angry over losing the award to Gadam and slammed Charterhouse for it, claiming they had taken ‘stupid money’ to cheat him out of the award.
Hammer, reacting to events from Saturday night, said Charterhouse should look at how they do things as Patapaa has truly been cheated.
“How do u vote for the most popular song of the year… Popular means popular period. This shld be unanimous by the board and academy… Backed by data from radio stations. u can’t ask to vote for this! That’s how u end up with the wrong song. Cos votes can be bought.. just buy loads of credits get your team to embark on Heavy voting. This means u compromise the legitimacy of the awards just for the coins you’ll make from votes. NOT FAIR… No song was bigger than one corner in 2017.. why u dey play with ppls struggle and hustle? The boy chop the thing hands down. Stop playing with ppls hard work and emotions. NOT COOL
