Only God Decides Who Goes to Heaven – Kuffuor Replies Rawlings
Former President, John Agyekum Kuffuor has hit back at ex-president Jerry John Rawlings over inappropriate remarks made about him.
According to Mr. Kuffuor “Only God decides who goes to Heaven.”
Mr. Rawlings had launched a scathing attack on former presidents Kuffuor and Mahama describing the duo as “evil” and “rogue” respectively during a recent meeting with chiefs and elders at Mepe in the Volta Region.
“I know with my integrity when I die I will go to heaven but when I see this corrupt leader I will ask permission from God and flog them,” Mr. Rawling said.
But Dr. Kwabena Osei-Adubofour, Senior Aide to former President Kufuor in a statement issued yesterday denied accusations by the ex-President Rawlings hat he (Kufuor) operated a family and friends’ government during his term as President.
He indicated that he has never divested any state property to himself or his family members.
“All the divestiture of state properties and enterprises that took place during his tenure in office was done legally and according to laid-down procedures, rules, and regulations, and to the utmost benefit of the people of Ghana,” he stressed.
He also denied influencing the promotion of security personnel based on tribalism.
“I never tried to influence the promotion or appointment into the security services unduly, more so, based on tribe. Emphatically, in his government policies, he never used tribalism in serving the regions and tribes of Ghana.
Touching on the creation of medal of the Black Star and Eagles of Ghana, he believes that it is the prerogative of the president of the state to make such a creation.
