The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly (ONMA) has unanimously retained its Presiding Member to steer the affairs of the Assembly.
Nii Odai Abdallah swept all 15 valid votes cast by the Assembly Members present to clench another four year term.
While expressing gratitude to the assembly for the confidence reposed in him as a result of his re-election, he stated that he is dedicated to the course of the Assembly.
He told journalists after his election in Accra on Wednesday that the work is a tedious one but he is motivated by the resolve to serve his people in that capacity.
Odai Abdallah is sure his re-election for the next four years is yet another opportunity to serve the Assembly better and urged the members to abide by the rules and regulations of the Assembly.
The Municipal Electoral Officer supervised the elections while Her Worship Adwoa Akyama Ofosu administered the Oath of Secrecy and the Oath of Office to Odai Abdallah.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Nii Boye Laryea stated that the event was in fulfillment of the Constitution of the country which requires that when Assembly Members are elected, there is the need for them to have a head to lead them.
He explained that Parliamentarians have the Speaker of Parliament as their head, so does Assembly Members also have a Presiding Member as their head.
Mr. Laryea tasked the Assembly Members to make their people see by their actions that they did not want power to only amass wealth for themselves but to identify the pressing needs in their communities and attend to it.
“…This should be their mandate so that next four years when they stand again as Assembly Members their community members will be able to look back on their good work done and elect them again” the ONMA MCE noted.
