Operation Vanguard Arrest 3 Chinese, 6 Ghanaians
Ashanti Forward Operating Base (FOB) of Operation Vanguard Task Force launched by the government to clamp down on illegal miners arrested 3 Chinese and 6 Ghanaian illegal miners at Kobro in Amansie Central District on Friday 4 May 2018.
The team seized 1 digital scale machine, 5 android phones and some ammunition. The team also immobilised 2 ‘changfan’ machines.
The names of the suspected Chinese illegal miners arrested are; Curen Huai, Tam Censen and Nang Haito. The Ghanaian collaborators are; Nobert Ben, Kwesi Atta, Joshua Atta, Solomon Ayambaya, Cosmos Awuni and Yussif Ali.
The suspects and the items seized were handed over to the Jakubu Police Station for further investigations for possible prosecution.
Operation Vanguard Task Force has so far arrested 1, 185 suspected illegal miners who are before the various courts. The Joint Task Force has also seized 106 weapons and 2,335 ammunition from illegal miners, seized and immobilised 525 excavators and 1,373 water pumping machines, with 5,111 changfans immobilised. 74 vehicles and 75 motorbikes have also been seized.
Operation Vanguard has further urged the public not to relent on information to the Task Force.
