The Kumasi Metropolis will soon benefit from a modern Eye Center to help boost the treatment of eye problems.
Significantly, the center would be located at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
The spectacular news has been made possible following the extraordinary exploits of the Kumasi Mayor, Hon. Osei Assibey Antwi, who has been able to push for Wenzhou Medical School in China to team up with KATH to construct the facility.
The mayor is currently in China at the head of a high-powered KMA delegation that secured the project.
Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China, Dr. Charles Dwamena, who is an old student and a cherished product of Wenzou Medical University in China, also played leading roles towards securing the deal.
Kumasi and Wenzou have, for some time now, been enjoying a sister-city relationship, which is geared towards developing the two cities.
Hon. Osei Assibey decided to travel to China to help deepen the relationship and he took advantage of the trip to win the project for KATH.
The Mayor’s entourage includes Ing. Nana Poku Agyeman, the Director of Urban Roads in Kumasi, and other top dignitaries.
