Otiko Djaba Set to Return to Politics Soon
The National Women Organiser for New Patriotic Party (NPP) Mrs Kate Gyamfuah has stated that the former Minister of Gender Children and Social Protection and former Women Organiser for NPP Mrs Otiko Afisa Djaba will soon return into politics .
Madam Otiko Djaba, after raising issues with her sack from government, resigned from politics, citing her stroke-ridden ex-husband as one of the reasons for not accepting the position.
There have been mixed reactions to her decision.
Whiles Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), Kennedy Agyapong supports his decision to quit politics, Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako known as Wontumi thinks the decision was too harsh.
Wontumi has gone further to demand that she apologises to the President for openly rejecting the Ambassadorial position offered her.
“Otiko needs to apologise to the President and Ghanaians because she has disrespected him. People like us have been loyal to the President but we don’t fight for positions and you have gotten an ambassadorial position and all you can do is to reject it and claim your husband is sick. She should give us a break,” he said.
Commenting on Otiko’s resignation, Madam Kate Gyamfuah, NPP’s National Women Organiser said she has spoken to her predecessor who has given strong indications that she will soon return to politics.
“I went to her to talk to her about the decision to resign, she said she wasn’t happy with the place she was posted to, that is why she decided to call it quit but I managed to convince her and she has promised me that she will return to politics soon…,” Madam Gyamfuah claimed in interview in Cape Coast.
According to her, Madam Otiko will make the comeback soon.
