Otiko Must Apologize to Nana Addo Over Ambassador Job Snub
THE ASHANTI Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako has waded into the controversy about the supposed snub of Otiko Afisa Djaba, the ex-Gender Minister.
According to the chairman aka ‘Wontumi’, it is an insult to the President Nana Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians in general for Otiko to reject an ambassadorial appointment from the Ghana leader.
Wontumi argued that it is necessary for Otiko to quickly come out and publicly apologize to the president and the entire Ghanaians over her decision to reject an offer from the president.
The former Gender Minister was axed in the recent ministerial reshuffle and reassigned as Ghana’s envoy to Italy.
The tough-talking minister, days after her new post is widely speculated to have rejected the president’s appointment with the excuse to look after her sick husband.
The decision triggered spontaneous reaction especially from politicians over her decision to reject such an offer from no mean a person than President Nana Akufo-Addo.
Sharing his views on the issue, Wontumi told a Kumasi radio station that whether Otiko’s husband is sick or not, it is disrespectful on her part to reject such an ambassadorial appointment from the president.
“Otiko should apologize to the president and Ghanaians for disrespecting the president”, he said, asking “at the time she accepted the Gender minister position was his husband not sick?”
