Otumfuo, Bawumia Worship with Muslims at K’si Central Mosque
HISTORY WAS made on Friday when the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, joined thousands of Muslims in their Friday worship.
The sacred event, which took place at the Central Mosque in Kumasi, also saw the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, a staunch Muslim, in attendance.
The two-week grand funeral rites of Otumfuo’s mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, were coming to an end on that particular day, and the Asantehene, who valued the contributions of Muslims towards the successful funeral, decided to worship with them.
As is usually the case whenever Otumfuo steps out of Manhyia Palace, the King was surrounded by scores of servants, elders and heavy security.
The Muslim leaders in the Ashanti region prayed fervently to Allah for his protection and guidance. They also prayed for Allah’s sound health, wisdom, protection and guidance for Otumfuo as he strives to leads the Asante Kingdom into affluence.
The Asantehene, in a speech read on his behalf, expressed his thanks to Ghanaians and foreigners, who made the funeral memorable.
Interestingly, there were intermittent chants of Otumfuo’s name by the worshippers, who seemed elated to have seen the King in their midst.
