OTUMFUO BEREAVED

THE 16TH OCCUPANT of the Golden Stool, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, has lost a sister, Nana Adwoa Akyaa, popularly known as Margaret Tuffuor. She was 99.

Nana Adwoa Akyaa, a prominent member of the clan, reportedly succumbed to death after a short illness.

Her demise is said to have come as a great shock to the entire Oyoko clan of Asante, in particular Otumfuo.

Sources at the Manhyia Palace hinted that scores of mourners have been visiting the palace to commiserate with the Ashanti king.

Prominent people, including politicians, chiefs and businessmen have visited the place so far.

Meanwhile, the one-week celebration of the departed royal would be held at the Manhyia Palace on Thursday.
