THERE was wild jubilation at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the official seat of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Thursday, April 26 as the king celebrated his 19th year on the throne.
People from all walks of life trooped to the palace to give the king their word of blessing.
Among the well-wishers were powerful traditional rulers, prominent politicians, and respectable businessmen.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II was enstooled as the 16th Asantehene, amid pomp and pageantry on April 26, 1999, when he succeeded Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, who had reigned for 29 years.
The Asantehene, after ascending the Golden Stool, introduced the Otumfuo Education Fund, a social intervention programme which supports Ghanaian students from poor homes.
He also made transformational contributions in the health sector.
