THE ASANTE King, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and King Charles III, of Great Britain, have held fruitful discussions, The New Publisher has gathered.
Otumfuo, who is currently on his annual holidays in faraway South Africa and the King of England, reportedly, talked at length through phone, over the weekend.
The two respected monarchs, according to close sources, mainly discussed the State of Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, scheduled for London today (Monday).
As a reminder, the Buckingham Palace, the official seat of the British Monarch, officially invited the Asantehene to London to join the royal family in mourning.
According to credible reports, the Asantehene explained his inability to join King Charles and the rest of the British Royal Family to bid farewell to the late queen.
The reasons of the Asante King’s inability to emplane from South Africa to London to commiserate with the royal family today are not immediately known to the paper.
But sources, who are close the 16th Asantehene, said that King Charles III was highly convinced by Otumfuo’s explanation.
Significantly, the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi and the Buckingham Palace in London have enjoyed very close relations for more than one century now.
King Charles III, who was then the Prince of Wales and the heir apparent to the throne, visited the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi in 2018 with his wife.
Earlier in 2000, when Otumfuo was just one-year on the Golden Stool, Queen Elizabeth II invited him to the Buckingham Palace where they held some discussions.
