The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has started a grand campaign to help prevent the spread of the deadly Covid-19 virus in the Ashanti region and the country at large.
Using social media to achieve his great aim, the 16th occupant of Golden Stool has been reaching out to people in their homes with his educative message.
Under the instructions of the Asantehene, the Manhyia Palace has come out with an easy to read artwork that has Covid-19 education tips to help protect the people.
With the headline ‘Protect Yourself from Coronavirus’, the Asante King’s message clearly explains what people should do to stay safe from the virus.
The Asantehene’s message has been spread to various social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter and other social media platforms.
Significantly, majority of the people that have read the message have showered praises on the Asantehene for being a caring leader.
Minister’s Visit
Meanwhile, the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has expressed satisfaction about Manhyia Palace’s preparedness for the virus.
Addressing the media after touring the Asantehene’s palace, the minister urged other traditional leaders to learn from Otumfuo to stay safe from the virus.
Otumfuo’s Remarks
Nana Effah-Apenteng, the Bompata Manhene, who spoke on behalf of Otumfuo, said political discussions in the media should be replaced with Covid-19 education.
According to him, proper education is what is crucially needed to defeat the Covid-19 virus “and the media is a major tool when it comes to spreading information”.
The Asantehene also admonished politicians from the various political parties, to henceforth, put their political interests aside and unite to battle the virus.
He said the virus is deadly as it has killed several people across the globe, therefore there was the need for the citizenry to unite and face the deadly virus.
