Otumfuo Saamanhene Angry …Over Stray Cattle
OTUMFUO’S SAAMANHENE, Nana Osei Kwaku III, is fuming with rage over stray cattle that are released by their owners to roam about in the streets of Kumasi.
He said the development is denting the image of the Metropolis and called on the city authorities to quickly evacuate the cattle from the streets.
According to him, the presence of such stray animals on the streets can lead to vehicular accidents, resulting in injuries and loss of human lives.
“If you drive through the streets of Kumasi, the probability of spotting stray cattle is very high and this is not good for the image of the city.
“These stray cattle are often seen on the streets that lead to the Manhyia Palace, the official seat of the Asantehene, and it is not good”, he complained.
According to the Saamanhene, several top dignitaries both in Ghana and from abroad visit Palace “and it is not good when they see cattle in the streets”.
Nana Osei Kwaku III made the complained when Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka ‘Napo’, the Education Minister, presented dustbins to Otumfuo.
The Kumasi Mayor, Osei Assibey Antwi and other top members of the KMA were present when the traditional leader complained.
The Mayor, in a response, assured that the Assembly had taken note of the complaint and would make sure it is stopped.
