OTUMFUO Visits Former Presidents

THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, was the august visitor of the three living former presidents in the country, over the weekend.

The historic visits, saw the Asantehene storming the homes of Messrs Jerry Johns Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor and John Dramani Mahama.

The Asante Monarch, who rarely leaves the Manhyia Palace, was in Accra, as the keynote speaker at the annual UPSA Leadership Lectures on Friday.

As he always do, especially anytime that he visited the national capital, he decided to separately visit the former Ghana leaders in their homes.

The Asantehene’s visits accorded him the opportunity to ascertain how Messrs Rawlings, Kufuor and Mahama were faring in life, presently.

The timely visits also gave him the opportunity to discuss issues of national concern with the former Ghana presidents, behind closed doors.

Reports monitored by THE NEW PUBLISHER on Friday indicated that the Asante King spent some time talking about Ghana with his hosts.

For instance, Otumfuo was said to have spent about 30 minutes with ex-President John Dramani Mahama alone as they discussed national issues.

The exact details of Otumfuo’s discussions with the three former presidents were not available to the media as the discussions were held in-camera.

Meanwhile, the Asantehene on Friday evening also visited the Vice President, Alhaji Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, discussing key national issues.
