Otumfuo’s Spiritualist Angry Over Same-Sex Marriage
BAFFUOR ASABRE Kogyawoasu Ababio, Chief Spiritualist (Nsumankwahene) of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has strongly kicked against the temptation of introducing same-sex marriage to the country.
According to him, the practice is a taboo and alien to Ghana’s tradition and that its introduction could have serious spiritual repercussions on the country and people.
He also urged government not to kowtow to pressure from the so-called superpowers by accepting the practice, which he described as demonic.
“Our gods, traditions and culture are against the introduction of same-sex marriage into the country and so we should not make a mistake by accepting this demonic practice into the country because of foreign aid.
“Same-sex marriage is foolishness and a shameful practice so we should not make a mistake as a people to accept it. We will live to regret it later on due to bad omens that would hit us as a country”.
Speaking on Otec FM, the Nsumankwahene said Ghana should safeguard her cultural heritage now that she is not under the control of her colonial masters.
“We attained our freedom in 1957, which is a long time ago. Therefore we should not sit aloof and allow our former colonial masters to continue to direct us about what we should do because their culture and traditions are different from ours”.
