Passengers Threaten to Sue AWA Over Flight Delays

Some stranded passengers of Africa World Airlines (AWA) have threatened to sue the airline company for delayed flights to Accra.

Some of the passengers say they have booked their tickets about three weeks now hence their decision.

Citi FM’s Northern Regional Correspondent, Abdul Karim Naatogmah reports that the scores of passengers were stranded at the Tamale Airport on Friday, December 22, 2017.

According to the passengers, they were due to return to Accra on Thursday, December 21, 2017.

But the delays and cancellation compelled them to stay in Tamale even though they hadn’t budgeted for the additional cost.

The passengers also lamented the management’s failure to give concrete reasons for the delays.

“It is like the airline is not flying at the right time as advertised and so that is why check in has been pushed to close at 40 minutes to departure. I had the information that there is a technical problem so they will not be flying at exactly 1pm. Moreover, whilst coming, I had a flat tyre yet I managed to get here on time to join the queue. Yet when it reached my turn, I am being told I cannot join the flight,” one passenger lamented.

Another also said, “Everybody is in the queue here so why should you give my seat to somebody else without even telling me? What is the essence of the numbers that we were given as part of rectifying the situation.”

A third also maintained that, “We should have been informed of any decision if they think we arrived late….But they take the laws into their own hands and give our seats to someone else.”

Meanwhile Citi Business News is yet to get an official response from the Africa World Airlines.
