PDS Staff Chased With Gun …As Director Weeps
A STAFF of the Power Distribution Services (PDS) in Kumasi was reportedly chased with a gun for attempting to fell a tree under a PDS network, which usually caused power outages in the area.
According to reports gathered by the media here, a certain man, who claimed to be the owner of the tree, pulled a gun on the PDS staff.
Ing. David Asamoah, the Ashanti Regional Acting Director of PDS, who disclosed the chilling news to journalists in Kumasi on Friday, however did not say what action was taken against the man. He, however, condemned his action, and lamented about how trees that are situated under PDS networks, usually caused unnecessary power cuts in the city.
He appealed to house owners and residents in the region to cooperate with the company to ensure constant power supply. He further noted that while bush fires led to the burning of PDS transformers and poles, unauthorized meters also impacted negatively on PDS’ general operations and urged the public to desist from the acts.
The PDS leadership organized the media interaction programme to help explain their operations to the public.p
