Pelosi arrives in Ghana
The first female Speaker of the United States’ House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, has arrived in Ghana with a team of US delegation on a four-day state visit.
The historic visit falls part the 400th Anniversary of the First Enslaved Africans landing in America.
The visit coincides with this year’s PanAfrican Festival (Panafest) and Emancipation, which is on the theme: “Uniting the African family” with the sub-theme: “Beyond 400 years; Reaching across continents into the Future.”
On the trip to Ghana also includes House Majority Whip, James Clyburn and other Representatives of African descent.
Amidst cultural display, the delegation was met on arrival at the Jubilee Terminal by Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye together with the minority leader Haruna Iddrisu.
She is expected to pay solemn respects at the Cape Coast and Elmina Castles and the “Door of No Return as well as lay wreaths at the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum in Accra.
