Pick Pockets Flood Kumasi
Reports reaching THE PUBLISHER indicates that several pickpockets have virtually taken over Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, ahead of the yuletide.
They are said to be snatching people’s purse, bags, mobile phones and other items with ease.
The hoodlums, most of who are teenagers, are said to be stationed at the extremely busy parts of the city center, including Kejetia Area, Dr. Mensah, Roman Hill, PZ, Pampaso, Central Market, Asafo Market and Bantama Market.
The young boys, who usually feign that they are also shopping for the yuletide, take advantage of the large crowds in the markets to steal the belongings of unsuspecting shoppers.
As at the time of filing this story, countless shoppers have fallen prey to the activities of pickpockets in the past fortnight.
Some of the affected persons, who have shared their experiences with the paper, said the pickpockets are so smart that it is difficult to catch them.
They have therefore appealed to the police to send plain-clothed men to the affected areas to help curb the menace.
