‘Please, Don’t Kill Me!’- MP Begs Assassins
THE MEMBER of Parliament (MP) for Nhyiaeso in Kumasi, Kennedy Kankam, has suffered the ordeal of passionately begging some assassins, who had invaded his house to kill him.
According to reports, the three gun men were wearing mask to cover their faces, and they openly informed the lawmaker that they had been hired by some people (name unknown) to take away his life on that fateful day.
Obviously sweating and panting for breath, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lawmaker, who had been held hostage together with his wife and children, reportedly begged the miscreants to spare his life and they obliged.
Despite sparing his life, the goons later on left the MPs mansion with assortments of mobile phones, laptop, an undisclosed amount of cash and a Landcruiser vehicle, which they later abandoned at Kwadaso Edwenase.
Confirming the report, ASP Godwin Ahianyo, the Ashanti Regional Police PRO, said the distraught lawmaker, whilst lodging a complaint, said the three masked men openly told him that they were in his house to kill him.
According to the police officer, the police are presently investigating a case of robbery since the hoodlums made away with money, laptop, money and a Landcruiser vehicle, which they later abandoned somewhere.
ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the robbers scaled the wall and got access to the MPs bedroom around 1am on Saturday, adding that the robbers held the MP and his family hostage for about three hours before fleeing with their booty.
He noted that nobody had been arrested yet but assured that police investigators were leaving no stone unturned in their bid to apprehend the robbers to face the law. He urged the public to feed the police with information.
