Police chase killers of suspected mental patient

THE POLICE in Kumasi are on the heels of killers of a man suspected to have a mental disorder, who was found shot dead on Sunday dawn at Fabi Dompoase in the Asokwa Municipality.

The deceased is known only as Ishmael in the neighbourhood.

There was a gunshot wound in his stomach and part of his hand had also been chopped off by his ‘wicked’ killers.

There are conflicting reports as to what may have influenced Ishmael’s killers to gruesomely end his life.

Some of the people said they suspected that Ishmael was mistaken to be a thief and he was killed by a mob.

Other people, who believe in superstition, were of the view that perhaps Ishmael was killed for rituals purposes.

Thomas Agyare, Assemblyman of Fabi Dompoase Electoral Area, reported the heartbreaking case to Asokwa Police.

The body has been deposited in a mortuary and the police are said to be doing everything possible to nab the killers.

“Police on the spot investigation revealed that the deceased whose name was given as Ishmael was a lunatic.

“That he was only known as Ishmael and did roam Chirapatre community, begging for food and money.

“Body deposited at KATH Mortuary in Kumasi, pending identification and autopsy”, a police report disclosed.

The report, which has been sighted by the paper, also said “No arrest made”, adding “investigations are ongoing”.
