DRIVERS THAT drive under the influence of alcohol also known locally as ‘Apio’ are in big trouble.
The police have declared that any driver found guilty of drink-driving would be arrested and dealt with.
According to the police, they have realized that road crashes often increases during Christmas periods.
But the police wants to stop the negative trend this year and so they have put several measures in place.
Key among the latest measures, the police has stated, is to stop drivers driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Ashanti Regional MTTD Boss, Chief Supt. Emmanuel Aduboahene said drink-driving causes more crashes.
“We would be mounting several road checkpoints in the region ahead of Christmas to stop the drunk drivers”.
He said on radio that the police wants to reduce road crashes during the Yuletide to the barest minimum.
In line with this, the MTTD capo said the presence of the police on the roads in the region would increase soon.
According to him, the police would make sure that those that drive have the requisite license to be on the road.
“We will insist their license and also, when possible, test them to see if they are drunk or not to see the results.
“We don’t want anybody’s negligence to lead to the untimely deaths of others on the road”, he declared.
