Police Grab Taxi Robbers, Seize Guns
THE ASHANTI Regional Police seem to be winning the war against robbery in the region, following the timely arrest of three notorious taxi snatchers.
The suspects were identified as Karim Yahaya, Osumanu Mohammed and Alhaji Amadu.
The trio and two other accomplices, who are now at large, have reportedly been terrorizing the people of Agona and nearby areas, for some time now.
According to reports, on June 13, this year, a five-man robbery team blocked the Juaben to Dumankwa road in the evening and robbed passengers in taxis plying that road of their monies, mobile phones and other belongings.
After snatching and robbing two taxis, the robbers abandoned one of the cabs in a bush and escaped with the one, which looked a bit new.
Acting upon a tip-off, the police arrested Yahaya Karim and found single barrel guns, tramadol, cartridges and other offensive weapons on him.
Yahaya then led the police to arrest Amadu Alhali and Osumanu Mohammed from their hideouts. Similar offensive weapons were also found on them.
Meanwhile, the police have been able to retrieve the two stolen taxi cabs that the robbers snatched during their ‘operation’ on the Juaben to Dumankwa road.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command have also intensified efforts to arrest the two other accomplices, who are currently on the run.
