Police Hunt For Killer Herdsmen As 3 Soldiers, 1 Cop Are Shot
THE ASHANTI Regional Police Command has launched investigations into circumstances that led to the shooting of three soldiers and a policeman at Asante Akyem Agogo on Monday.
The soldiers and the policeman were part of the ‘Operation Cow Leg Team’, who was embarking on their usual patrols, when some suspected trigger-happy herdsmen shot at them.
The Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Juliana Obeng, disclosed that a team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel have been dispatched to the area to investigate the case.
According to her, no arrest had been made, barely 24 hours after the shocking incident, adding that the regional command was doing everything possible to get to the bottom of the matter.
She disclosed that the joint Military/Police Patrol Team was on its usual patrol to check the activities of Fulani herdsmen when they were suddenly shot at.
The PRO, however, assured that the unexpected attack would in no way douse the morale of the joint military/police team, adding that the incident had rather charged them to work harder to sustain the operation, which was aimed at ensuring that Fulani Herdsmen do not cause further havoc in the area.
She announced that more men have been dispatched to Asante Akyem Agogo to augment the Operation Cow Leg Team.
Meanwhile, information reaching the paper indicates that the three injured military men have been referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for further treatment.
