Police Hunt Killer Driver
THE POLICE, in the Ashanti region, are currently on the heels of a driver, who decided to flee after his car had knocked and killed a man.
The sad incident, according to eye witnesses, happened on Tuesday evening at Adawomase, which is a ‘Kente’ manufacturing town, in the Ashanti region.
The deceased, identified by locals as Kofi Ampofo, believed to be in his 40’s, reportedly died on the spot after the car had knocked him down.
The body of Ampofo had since been sent at a morgue in a medical facility, awaiting autopsy to determine, what indeed killed him.
Eye witnesses told THE PUBLISHER that they suspected that Ampofo was walking by the roadside on Tuesday evening when the calamity befell him.
According to them, the vehicle was coming at top speed and so Ampofo was dragged for some meters after he was hit by the car from behind.
The people said the driver of the speeding car, after the accident, fled the scene and left his victim to his tragic fate.
They told the paper that Ampofo, who suffered broken bones and bruises on his body, layed in the bush all night till the next morning.
They said some people saw Ampofo laying dead in a bush, near the main road, on Wednesday morning so they alerted the police.
Ampofo, they said, was very popular in the area. He was survived by five children and a wife. The police are doing everything possible to arrest the driver.
