THE POLICE are on the heels of whoever shot and killed a hunter in a forest in the Ashanti Region.
The now-deceased hunter, identified as Akwesi Peter Hemang, who was wielding a long gun, went to the forest to hunt on the morning of June 26, 2023.
The hunter, 48, did not return home, prompting a search for him in the forest. His body was found two days later with gunshot wounds.
Akwesi Peter’s long gun, which he was supposed to use for hunting for animals, was placed on his chest by his unknown killer, when the body was found.
A liquid substance in a bottle was also placed beside the hunter’s body in the forest at Tenehoyo cottage near Sreso Timpom, where he was eliminated.
A police report said no arrest has been made by the security agencies yet. The police, however, assured that they were hunting for the killers.
“The deceased left home on 26/06/23 with the gun under the pretext of hunting and did not return until his body was found in the forest”, the police report said.
It added that the body has been deposited at the Nyinahin Community Hospital Mortuary for autopsy, adding that police were hunting for the killer to face the law.
Meanwhile, THE NEW PUBLISHER gathered that the hunter left behind a wife and seven children.
