Police Intercept Niger-Bound Bus With Marijuana
The police in Ashanti have intercepted a Niger-bound bus, carrying large quantity of dried leaves believed to be marijuana and detained two suspects.
They have been identified as Razak Yakubu, driver of the bus, and his mate, Adamu Zippo.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Nuhu Jango, Commander of the Ashanti Central Police Division, said the bus was intercepted at about 2000 hours on Thursday, January 11 at Buoho in the Afigya-Kwabre District.
The police, he added acted based upon intelligence.
The psychoactive drug had been concealed in a compartment close to the left rear tyre of the vehicle, which had been loaded with goods from the Bawku Station in Alabar – Kumasi.
He said 47 slaps of well-compressed dried leaves were found during a thorough search by the officers.
He indicated that sample of the leaves had been sent for forensic examination and that the suspects would soon be put before court.
