Sexy and saucy singer, Mzbel, was released on bail after she was invited to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to help with investigations into a case lodged against her by television presenter and actress, Stacy Amoateng, Executive Director of Angel Broadcasting Network.
The award winning celebrated musician was not detained. She was not charged. Her official statement was taken on Monday and she was asked to report back Tuesday.
Mzbel, known in private life as Belinda Nana Akua Amoah, was reported to have publicly put out some information about Stacy which the latter found offending and therefore took the matter to the law enforcement agency.
Someway somehow, the name of Prophet Nigel Gaisie, founder and leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel popped up in the tango between Mzbel and Stacy.
“Mzbel came to the CID headquarters on her own but she was officially arrested and cautioned…Any person who publishes or reproduces any statement, rumour or report which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace knowing or having reason to believe that the statement, rumour or report is false is guilty of a misdemeanor”, the Public Relations Officer of the CID, DSP Juliana Obeng, confirmed to Adom TV.
The CID PRO said Mzbel was cautioned on Section 208 of the Criminal Code.
Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo’s www.entertainmentgh.com, reports that Mzbel’s lawyer, Mr. James Abbeam has said his client was not arrested but was only invited and her statement taken after which she was granted bail.
The reports said Mr. Abbeam noted that the Police are investigating the matter and his client is assisting in that regard.
On whether there are plans to tackle the matter out of court and the security service, he intimated that, they are working on it.
Mzbel was invited by the Police for what they call, spreading of false news. She is on record to have stated in an interview that award-winning broadcaster, Stacy Amoateng, has contracted HIV, an information apparently told her by Prophet Nigel Gaisie.
Mzbel, as at press time on Tuesday was reported to be in a very good mood and not worried or anxious about the development.
