Residents of Kumasi and its environs will now breathe a sigh of relief, following the arrest of two notorious armed robbers by the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
Police source say the suspects, Bismarck Fosu and George Boateng, who are said to be very ‘wicked’, usually inflict cutlass wounds on their victims before fleeing with their booty.
DCOP Kwasi Mensah Duku, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, who spoke to the media, described the arrest of the two as a breakthrough for the police in the region.
Speaking at a press conference, he said: “On September 27, the suspects broke into a house at Abrepo around 3am. They kept the victims hostage and succeeded in snatching a pump action gun from the victims before inflicting machete wounds on them”.
He also said the two, with three other accomplices, on September 29, used a pump action gun to rob a woman of US$16,000, one laptop computer and an unspecified amount of Cedis, before luck ran against them.
“On Tuesday 8th October, 2019, acting on intelligence information, Bismarck Fosu and George Boateng were arrested at Ohwim”, the police capo said.
According to him, Fosu, upon interrogation admitted his role in the two aforementioned cases of robbery, adding that Fosu also named his accomplices. A pump action gun and industrial cutter were retrieved from Fosu.
The two would be arranged soon.
