Police probe hanging of girl, 12

THE NKAWIE Police, in the Ashanti Region, are investigating circumstances that led to a 12-year-old girl to commit suicide by hanging.

The lifeless body of Princess Ntiamoah, a house help, was reportedly found hanging on burglar proof in the bedroom of her madam, one Abena Gyasiwaa

The heartbreaking incident happened at Atwima Mim around 11:30am on February 19, 2021 and it has so sparked speculations, sadness and free-for-all wailing in the area.

A police report said boss of the deceased, Abena Gyasiwaa and one Charles Abankwa on February 19, 2021 around 11:45am, reported that Princess had committed suicide.

Police personnel quickly accompanied the two complainants to their house to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the reported case.

“Her neck was tied with a dress across a window burglar proof in the bedroom of Abena Gyasiwaa dead, with her legs stepping on a 5 inches student mattress.

“Measurement of the scene were taken as follows. From the burglar proof where her dress was tied up to the neck as she hangs measured 19 inches.

“From the burglar proof where the dress was tied up to the floor level where deceased’s legs were found stepping on a mattress was 73 inches”, the report said.

The body of the deceased, the report indicated, was carefully inspected but no marks of violence was found to arouse suspicion of a foul play.

The body has since been removed and deposited at the Frimpong Boateng Medical Center morgue for autopsy and preservation as investigations are ongoing.
