A new poll has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) presidential candidate election is a three-horse race.
The poll revealed that former Railway Development Minister, Joe Ghartey popularly known as Big Joe, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyeremanten otherwise known as Alan Cash, are the leading contenders for the NPP’s Presidential Candidate job.
The EIB Group which owns GHOne TV, Kasapa FM and StarrFM, conducted the survey which showed that the race for who succeeds President Nana Akufo-Addo in the NPP is a straight fight between Mr. Ghartey, Mr Kyeremanten and Dr. Bawumia.
The polls which was held on Facebook had about 7,023 feedbacks.
The polls after 24 hours indicated that out of the 7, 023 feedbacks received during the assessment of the candidates, 6, 648 persons named Dr Bawumia and Mr Kyeremanteng as their favourite candidates to lead the New Patriotic party representing about 92.44% of the total response received.
The third best choice was Mr Ghartey. Most of the respondents who chose Mr Ghartey argued that he was adjudged the best performing minister under Akufo-Addo government in 2019 so with him at the frontline, the New Patriotic Party is likely to break the 8 years mantra. Her sterling performance during the first term of President Akufo-Addo has endeared to many people, especially those who participated in the online polls.
According to majority of persons who voted for Dr Bawumia and Kyeremanten, the impact of Dr Bawumia and Alan Cash’s contribution to the growth of the New Patriotic Party is unparalleled. They argued that Bawumia pulled the love from the North and has good records to lead the party.
About 4,038 said they want Bawumia and Alan to be paired as the flagbearer and running mate respectively if the the party wants to break the 8.
Gathering data from the comments section, majority of the New Patriotic Party supporters warned the delegates against tribalism, favouritism and corruption, urging delegates to vote for a competent person who can lead the party to break the 8.
