Power Outage Caused By Gas Shortage – ECG

The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has announced that the recent power outage to have hit the capital was due to a drop in the supply of gas at the Aboadze Thermal Plant in the Western Region.

This follows after several parts of Accra had experienced black out on Monday, during peak periods between 7pm and 9pm.

In a statement issued yesterday, the Public Relations Department of GRIDCo, said they had to rely on other thermal plants in Tema to restore full power supply.

Ghanaians after a long and devastating period of unstable power in the country, sighed with relief when power got stabled and never expected to have such experiences again.

However, the recent power outage in the country has got many questioning if ‘dumsor’ has erupted again.

Despite the shortage in the supply of gas, GRIDCo said alternative arrangements have been made to ensure there is enough power to meet the demand.

The power suppliers also assured the general public that there is enough generation to meet power demand.

“We are working with all power generators to ensure continuous supply to all customers and will keep the public informed of further developments.

We deeply regret any inconvenience caused. GRIDCo thanks you for your patience and cooperation,” the statement read.
