Preach Sanitation Too – Chief Of Staff Urges Churches
The Chief of Staff, Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare has called on churches to continually educate the congregants on the laid down by-laws regarding sanitation in order to build a healthy society.
Madam Akosua Frema Osei Opare made the call when she joined members of the Legon Baptist church to celebrate their 35th anniversary service.
The celebration became necessary to commemorate the good works of the Lord Jesus Christ.
According to her, cleanliness is next to Godliness and that the church must endeavor to ensure that in as much as they preach the Gospel of Christ, they also ensure that members take good care of the society in which they live.
She indicated that the sanitation campaign that was recently launched by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was in the spirit of building a more habitable society and that the church needs to play a key role in sending the message across.
She also stated that although government department and agencies have been tasked with the duty of ensuring the realization of the President’s dream as far as sanitation is concern, the church must not leave the fight against filth to the agencies alone.
Akosua Frema Osei Opare also added that Ministries, Agencies and Departments have been given the duty to embark on a cleanup exercise in and around their places of work to contribute to making the city of Accra clean.
According to her government has “commenced a cleanup campaign to ensure that all parties of Government’s Business District get rid of filth within that enclave,” adding that the issue of sanitation must become relevant in the churches since it will improve the health of members and draw them closer to God.
