Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has called on members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to work diligently in order to secure a victory against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and John Mahama in the upcoming elections.
Dr. Prempeh emphasized that John Mahama’s track record does not offer any significant benefits to Ghanaians.
He pointed out that none of the NPP’s flagbearer aspirants have held the presidency, unlike John Mahama, who has a record that Dr. Prempeh deems unsatisfactory.
Speaking at a meeting with delegates from his Manhyia South constituency in the Ashanti Region on October 27, 2023, ahead of the NPP’s flagbearer elections, Dr. Prempeh acknowledged that global economic challenges have made governments unpopular worldwide, including the NPP.
He urged NPP members to inform the Ghanaian people about the party’s efforts to address these challenges and to contrast the NPP’s performance with that of the NDC, which did not face similar exogenous shocks.
Dr. Prempeh also stressed the importance of NPP members seeing the exercise on November 4, 2023, as an internal process, free from animosity, disagreements, and antagonism.
He called on delegates to work together after the presidential primaries, emphasizing the need for unity to secure a victory against the NDC.
