Prez Assures Failed Applicants of Afforestation Programme
THE 40,000 YOUTH that applied for the Youth in Afforestation Programme but failed to make the cut have been given a ray of hope by the president.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that plans are in the pipeline to employ those applicants on the programme, soon.
He gave the assurance when speaking at the official launch of the Youth in Afforestation Programme in Kumasi on Monday.
According to the president, a staggering 60,000 youth applied for jobs in the programme but unfortunately only 20,000 made the cut.
He, however, entreated the 40,000 failed applicants not to give up hope, assuring that the government still had them in mind.
“With some 60,000 applications received by the Forestry Commission for employment, and with only 20,000 recruited, I am engaging with the minister of finance to seek additional funds to support this programme, so that the remaining applicants can be recruited”, he said.
Nana Akufo-Addo urged the 20,000 ‘lucky’ applicants to be diligent with their work, noting that government is determined to make Ghana look green.
