Prez Kufuor Backs Akwasi Appiah

FORMER PRESIDENT John Agyekum Kufuor has thrown his weight behind Mr. Akwasi Appiah, current coach of the senior national football team, the Black Stars.

The ex-Ghana leader, popularly known as ‘the Gentle Giant’, expressed the strong belief that Appiah has the wherewithal to take Ghana to places.

He recounted the extraordinary exploits of Coach Appiah, when he was first handed the Black Stars coaching job some years ago.

Mr. Kufuor lamented that even though the coach performed excellently at the time, he did not get the needed respect from Ghanaians at the time, and expressed worry about how Ghanaians give utmost respect and support to expatriate trainers as against the local ones.

Sounding confident, the ex-president displayed the strong conviction that Coach Akwasi Appiah would deliver if Ghanaians give him their maximum support.
